Troubleshooting WI-FI disconnections

If you're experiencing frequent disconnections with your Wi-Fi, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Restart your devices:

Begin by restarting your Wi-Fi router/modem and the device(s) experiencing the disconnections. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.

Check all connections:

Ensure that all cables and connections to your router/modem are securely plugged in. Loose or disconnected cables can cause intermittent connectivity problems.

Move closer to the router:

If you're experiencing weak Wi-Fi signals or disconnections while using a device far away from the router, try moving closer to the router and see if the problem persists. This can help identify if the issue is related to distance or signal strength.

Check for interference:

Wi-Fi signals can be affected by other electronic devices or physical obstructions. Make sure your router is placed away from devices that may cause interference, such as cordless phones, microwaves, or Bluetooth devices. Additionally, try to eliminate obstructions like walls or furniture that may weaken the signal.

Change Wi-Fi channel:

If there are multiple Wi-Fi networks in your area, they can interfere with each other. Access your router's settings and try changing the Wi-Fi channel to a less congested one. This can potentially improve the stability of your connection.  If you have a Coda-4680 modem try turning off bandsteering - Instructions Here.

Factory Reset Modem and Network settings:

Factory resetting the Router can help resolve any software-related issues. Go to the network settings and select the option to reset or forget the Wi-Fi network, then reconnect and re-enter the network credentials.  Instructions are Here!
